Plant Yours

"There are no gardening mistakes, only experiments."

— Janet Kilburn Phillips

Directions for planting:
Distribute soil across the 3 starter pots.
Soil and pots included with Organic Seedling Kits, For recipe kits, get some nutrient-rich organic starter soil and starter pots or use small containers / egg cartons.  (anything with drainage will do!)

Wet the soil to make it moist then make a hole, plant your seeds and press down to ensure they have firm contact with the moist soil.

Important: Place in a warm location away from direct sunlight and cover with plastic wrap or some sort of lid to keep moisture in.  Ideal to keep the temperature between 65° to 75°F.
Don't be discouraged if some seedlings don't take!

Caring for your seedlings:
Seeds need moisture and warmth so check daily and if the soil starts to dry, place the pots in a shallow container with warm water to wick moisture from the bottom.  If just the soil on top is dry, lift the plastic covering and spritz with warm water from a spray bottle.

When you see the first sign of green, remove the plastic wrap and move the pots to a place with direct sunlight by a window. As the seedlings grow keep the soil moist, not soggy and rotate regularly.

Transitioning outside:
When the outdoor temperature is warm (late spring/summer) start the gradual process to move the seedlings outdoors.  For about 1 week, place them outside for a few hours during the day in a protected spot and bring them in at night.  Increase the time each day then plant them outdoors according to the seed instructions.
